Machine Quilting

Drop off and pick up of quilts is at Mad River Quilting.  Shipping of items may be arranged on an individual basis.

I have a Gammill Premier quilting maching.  It is non-computerized and does not have a stitch regulator.  In other words, it's all me running the machine.  The vast majority of the quilting I do is from all-over pantograph patterns.  I do some custom quilting which may include:  separate borders, quilting within blocks, stippling in sections, outlining.  I don't do intricate custom work (such as wreaths, feathers, etc.) or very much free motion design.

Turn-around time can vary somewhat by time of year but is generally 9 - 12 weeks.

Step 1.  Set Up

1.  A Set-Up fee of $15 per quilt includes your choice of thread color, bobbin winding, and basic quilting preparation on the machine

2.  Backing:  You may provide your own backing fabric.  It must be pieced to measure at least 4” larger than your top on all sides (i.e. 8” total in width and 8” total in length). If you prefer, I will piece your back for you, charged at $5 per seam.

3.  Batting:  You may provide your own batting.  It must measure at least 4” larger than your top on all sides (i.e. 8” total in width and 8” total in length)

If you prefer, I will provide Warm & Natural batting, charged at $4.75 per square yard used on your quilt or by packaged size price, whichever is the better deal for you.

4.  Do not baste, pin, or otherwise attach.

5.  Please trim all visible threads from the top of the quilt.

Step 2.  Choose a thread color.  Any A & E Permacore solid (click to browse choices) is included in the price of quilting.  ThreadArt Varigated (click to browse choices) is available at an additional $0.75 per bobbin used.  Please remember that computer monitors vary in their color presentation and the thread color you see may not be a perfect match to the actual thread.  Click on the thumbnail picture to view the name of each thread.

Step 3.  Choose a quilting pattern (click to browse chioces)

Step 4.  Binding

You may choose to finish your own binding. Your quilt will not be trimmed when returned.

If you prefer, I will trim your quilt, create double fold binding from your fabric provided, and machine stitch the binding to the front of the quilt in preparation for you to hand stitch to the back of the quilt to finish,   charged at $0.08 per linear inch.  Or, I can complete the binding by machine, charged at $0.12 per linear inch.
